It’s the week of in between. The joys of Christmas have ended but it’s not yet the hope of New Year. It’s the in between week that leaves us wondering if we even know who we are? As we close out one year and wait to begin anew we might find ourselves sitting in between PROMISES made and PROMISES kept.
Sitting in stillness has never been my strength. If I’m honest, I considered slowing down was for lazy people. As a women of faith I’m not sure how I rationalized ignoring the command of Psalm 46:10.
Eight years ago i was invited to be a guest in a room. I was compelled by desperation and desire. Desperate for a worthy income generating vehicle. And a desire to make an impact in others that would create legacy in my home and for the Kingdom.

I actually played softball most of my elementary school life. I even (sometimes) made the all-star team depending on which neighborhood kids were able to join the league that year. I was the 5th batter, and if you know, you know. But my coach was my best friend’s dad, and he loved me. He thought I could do it, and therefore I did.
Have you ever sat with that feeling of “Who am I to do this?” Or maybe it’s “How am I going to do this?” Either way it can leave you feeling a little like an imposter. This is not your cue to stop. This is your cue to lean in. If you haven’t had a tiny hint of the question, “Can I really do this?” then you might not have scratched the surface of what you are capable of and the GOOD that’s about to come.
The past few weeks of summer our home has been a revolving door. And it’s been wonderful. In fact, I prayed for it. I believe God created us for community and making space for people to come together and love each other is one of my greatest joys. I just don’t need it.
If you are reading this it is likely because you are a woman who loves her kids deeply AND has dreams beyond her home. I want to share three things that have led me from survival to success to significance. Many years ago I made the decision to do big things and make a difference.

First things first, you will not be a household name like you hoped when you are five. Lucky for you, technology will advance and you will get to pick up your own virtual microphone. You can host your own talk show through a platform called Instagram stories.
I never thought much about having kids. And if I did on a game of MASH (google it) in the back row at church in junior high, it was definitely to have two. That’s right, a husband, a house, a career, two cars in the garage and two kids playing in the yard.
I bought myself a new car. It’s just a car. But it’s a really nice car. And I bought it myself. Cars aren’t really the kind of thing that get me excited in life. I’m not really a “car person.” Some of that is my upbringing, some of that is just me.
