John 21:19 (NIV)

Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, “Follow me!”

Trust that your purpose, like Peter’s, is custom-made for you. God’s goodness in you is just as big as it is in others. When faced with comparison, remember that God’s plan for your life is uniquely designed to bring Him glory. Jesus’ words remind us to trust in God’s goodness. He assures us that His plan for us is just as significant as His plan for others. It’s a plan custom-made to bring glory to Him and fulfill His divine purposes. Trusting in God’s goodness means believing that He knows what’s best for us and that He will equip us with everything we need to fulfill our unique calling.

Jesus’ response to Peter underscores the importance of refocusing our hearts and minds away from comparison and onto Him. When we wholeheartedly follow Jesus, we not only find contentment and purpose, but we also contribute to the advancement of God’s kingdom on Earth. This timeless guidance encourages us to celebrate our uniqueness, trust in God’s goodness, and embrace the divine purpose that He has prepared for each of us.

Reflect on the idea that your purpose is custom-made by God. How does this perspective change the way you view comparison?
