As the Father has loved Me, so have I loved you. Now remain in My love. If you keep My commands, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commands and remain in His love.
Why do you think Jesus needed to tell us to “remain” in His love? From my own experience, I’m guessing it’s because I have a funny way of walking off from His love when I need it the most. Can you relate?
Remaining in God’s love means trusting in His sovereignty and goodness in every season of life. It means a committed walk of obedience to His way, as He guides and directs us and shepherds us along the path. As we align our hearts with His will, His love becomes a source of strength and joy.
Put another way: When we follow, we thrive; When we wander, we dive.
Jesus invites you to remain today. Commit to staying intimately connected to Jesus, knowing that His love for you is steadfast and transformative. His invitation to obedience is the kindest offer He could ever make, because the Father’s way leads to abundant life.
Ask yourself: “How am I doing at remaining in God’s love? How’s it going obeying His commands?” If you feel a prompt of conviction in a particular area, now is a great time to confess that to God and make a change.
Consider how abiding in His love really does lead to a life filled with joy and purpose. Just as Jesus instructs His disciples to remain in His love, make your renewed choice to cultivate a vibrant intimacy with God.
Make this obedience your daily devotion and watch an abundant blessing cover over your walk today.
