Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
Real love—especially Jesus-love—is never passive. His Word, alive in our lives, is always PRO-active. The Apostle Paul in fact, describes the Word as “living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword.” (Hebrews 4:12)
God’s love is constantly reaching and restoring. His love is always on the move, searching for those far from Him. Jesus, at every opportunity, rejected passivity and responded with loving proactivity.
Passive indifference has no place in the life of a disciple. Because to follow Jesus is to be in action.
Reflect on how God calls us to actively seek opportunities to love and serve others. Consider ways you can be proactive in demonstrating God’s love in your daily interactions.
God’s love compels us to take initiative in caring for others, especially our brothers and sisters in Christ. Don’t sit back and wait for opportunities to come to you. Actively seek out ways to extend kindness, compassion, and support to those around you. As you actively engage in loving others, you fulfill God’s command to be His hands and feet in a broken world.
How can you be proactive today in the love of Christ? Ask God to show you.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, give me eyes to see where I can proactively love people today. Make me aware of opportunities. Show me needs I can fill. Prompt me with prayers to pray. I surrender my words, my hands, my feet to You today. Make me an active servant, ready to say YES to you.
