Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
We live in a culture that stuffs itself on self-promotion and individualism. We are fed a steady diet of consumerism and celebrity. In advertising, movies and pop culture platforms everywhere, we are a “look at me” society.
But the Kingdom of God operates on an entirely different economy—a wholly alternative way of being. God calls us to humility and servant-heartedness. We serve a Savior that did not elevate Himself, but instead GAVE Himself. And He has invited you and me into a life abandoned to His purposes. He has called us to move from “look at Me,” to “come with Me.”
Reflect on the example of Jesus, who came not to be served but to serve (Mark 10:45). Consider how you can shift your focus from personal gain to inviting others to join you in serving God’s kingdom purposes. There’s something compelling about following a God who came to serve. And He keeps on attending to our needs every single day.
As followers of Christ, our attitude should mirror His selfless love. Let us intentionally seek ways to include others in our journey of faith, inviting them to experience the joy of serving together. By embracing a mindset of “come with me,” we demonstrate God’s love in action and foster genuine community centered on Christ.
