Overcoming Fear


Fear can often paralyze us, just as it did to the disciples when they saw Jesus walking on water. But Jesus reassured them, saying, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” Today, reflect on the fears that may be holding you back from fully trusting God. It could be fear of the unknown, fear of failure, or fear of rejection. Just as Peter overcame his fear by fixing his gaze on Jesus, we too can find strength in Christ. Pray for the strength to overcome those fears, knowing that Jesus is with you in every storm. Ask Him to help you keep your eyes on Him and not on the turbulent waters of life. In doing so, you will discover the peace that comes from trusting in His presence and promises.  Peter’s fear got the best of him when he saw the wind, causing him to doubt and begin sinking. Yet, Jesus immediately reached out to rescue him.

Reflect on moments in your life when fear has caused you to doubt God’s presence or promises. How can you find comfort in knowing that even in your moments of doubt, Jesus is there to lift you up?
