What Stifles Your Potential?

Hebrews 10:24-25 (ESV)

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Something threatens to stifle your true potential today. But I bet it isn’t what you think. It’s not some missed opportunity. It’s not an antagonist who doesn’t believe in you or positions themselves to hold you back. It isn’t even a person at all. In fact, it’s the absence of a person. Isolation itself is the biggest threat to snuff out your true potential.

Isolation hinders our spiritual growth and rob us of the blessings that come from community. Unlike solitude, which is aloneness with God, isolation is utter loneliness.

God designed us to thrive in relationships where we spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Ever felt truly isolated? It’s a terrible feeling, isn’t it? And it impacts your spiritual, relational and emotional life more than you can imagine.

But consider how gathering with other believers has encouraged and strengthened you over the years. Reflect on how much you have been enriched simply by the kind, gentle extension of an outstretched hand, or an agreeing prayer.

In community, we find accountability, encouragement, and shared faith that uplifts us and empowers us to live boldly for Christ. As we prioritize fellowship and community (Hebrews 10:25), let us recognize the importance of building relationships that nurture our faith and help us fulfill God’s purpose for our lives.
