Have you ever gazed into a mirror and thought, “I’m a work of art!”? It’s not a thought that naturally occurs to most of us, but it’s high time we embraced it, not in a self-obsessed or ego-inflated way, but in the profound realization that we are God’s masterpiece.

Ephesians 2:10 reminds us that we are God’s handiwork. This word, “handiwork,” paints a vivid picture of God creating us with intention and design, akin to an artist meticulously crafting a masterpiece.

However, what’s even more captivating is the way The Passion Translation describes it: “We have become his poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill the destiny he has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One.”

Did you catch that? His poetry! The original Greek word for “workmanship” is “poema.” You are God’s poem, His divine work of art, a unique composition written for specific works that only you can fulfill.

But here’s the beautiful secret: God desires more than your talent, your hard work, or your sacrifices. He desires your heart. You are valued not merely for what you do but for who you are.

Understanding this truth transforms the game of life. It emboldens you to navigate the unexpected twists and turns—the divinely different path God has set before you. It equips you with resilience for the highs, the lows, and the occasional moments when you wonder, “What’s happening?”

I’ve experienced seasons when I felt like a forgotten book on a library shelf, times when I believed God had paused the playlist of my life. However, here’s the twist – those were the seasons when I delved into the messy chapters of my story, the parts I had neatly tucked away. The focus shifted from ‘doing‘ to ‘being,’ and it became a healing balm. In the waiting, I found wholeness; in the delay, I discovered delight.

I desire the same for you. Today, remind yourself that you are God’s poem—a work in progress, written by the Divine Author. Your life is a narrative that others will read, and through it, they’ll witness the beauty and wonder of a life firmly rooted in His love.
