1 Corinthians 1:9 (NIV)

God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Life often leads us in various directions, and we may find ourselves seeking many things – success, purpose, happiness, and fulfillment. While these pursuits are important, we must remember our primary calling, which is beautifully expressed in 1 Corinthians 1:9: to be in relationship with Jesus Christ.

The verse begins by affirming that “God is faithful.” This faithfulness extends to His calling for us. We are called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus.  This divine invitation is a call to intimacy, communion, and relationship with the very source of life and love.

Our primary calling is not about what we can do for God but about experiencing the depths of His love and grace. It is an invitation to know Jesus personally, to walk with Him, and to grow in a meaningful relationship with the Savior of our souls.

Our primary calling challenges the notion of religion as a set of rules and rituals. Instead, it emphasizes relationship with a living God. In Jesus, we find a friend, a confidant, and a Savior who understands our every need, joy, and sorrow. This relationship surpasses the boundaries of mere religious observance. It allows us to experience the transformative power of His love and grace, deepening our faith and understanding of God’s character.

Our relationship with Jesus, like any other, requires time, effort, and intentionality. We nurture this relationship through prayer, reading His Word, and spending time in His presence. It’s a dynamic and evolving journey, full of opportunities to draw closer to Him.
